Based in Scotland, the Interactive Design Institute, (IDI) is the UK’s only fully accredited online art and design school and is approved by some of UK’ s most widely respected awarding bodies.

IDI was established to develop a world-wide community dedicated to the development of creative design methods and interactive education in Art and Design.

IDI students have access to a unique “interactive, supported learning environment” or “ISLE”, where they can access comprehensive learning materials, uploads images of their work, interact with fellow students and communicate with their tutors on a one-to-one basis.

IDI has now joined forces with the University of Hertfordshire to provide global access to online interactive education in Art and Design. The agreement between the two institutions makes it possible to offer higher education e-learning courses in design to students globally. These courses also offer UK students the opportunity to study for a Design Degree, in a flexible way, from wherever they live. There is no need to travel away from home, and students can fit their studies around work or family commitments.

IDI Degree courses follow University of Hertfordshire semesters but there are flexible learning patterns and students who wish to can continue to study over the traditional summer holiday period, making it possible for them to complete their Degree within a shorter time.

The first online Degrees in Graphic Design and Illustration and Interior and Spatial Design are now available. Both courses have a ‘with Marketing’ route. IDI are recruiting the first cohort of students onto each course for a start date in September 08. There is also an online “Degree Foundation” course for students who need to prepare a portfolio to apply to Art College or university.
