Tourism and hospitality students at Perth College are getting an extra £5500 from the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland to help pay
for childcare, textbooks, accommodation and to study for further qualifications.
This is the largest bursary donation that HIT Scotland has made to Perth College, according to HIT Scotland*s Chief Executive, David Cochrane, who continued, “We are delighted to provide Perth College with this funding in recognition of its outstanding commitment to developing and supporting the emerging talent of the hospitality industry in Scotland."
“As a major charity for the hospitality and tourism industry, HIT Scotland aims to help committed students take their studies to a higher level.” Perth College helps meet the demands of industry by offering a wide range of tourism and hospitality courses through part-time and full-time study, according to Programme Leader, Ian Gibb.
He explained, “There is a skills shortage in tourism and hospitality, so it’s vital that we encourage young people to take up careers in these exciting areas. The HIT Scotland bursaries allow us to do just that, as they provide our students with extra help while at College.”
“Previous HIT bursaries have helped our students to take part in international competitions like ScotHot where they have succeeded in winning Gold medals.
There are always plenty of jobs for well-trained people, and our courses provide an ideal springboard for successful careers or for going onto further study.” To find out more about Perth College tourism and hospitality courses call 0845 270 1177.
