Full Job Description

Primary Playcare Ltd is a private organisation providing Out of School Care to over 400 children across our Out of School Clubs in East Renfrewshire and Glasgow city centre. We are recruiting for a Senior Childcare Practitioner to join one of our clubs with in East Renfrewshire (Giffnock). We are looking for applicants who are fun, outgoing personality, reliable and have a natural ability to engage effectively with primary school aged children. The hours of work will be:

Breakfast Club (7.30am - 9.00am) Monday to Friday

After School Club (2pm - 6.00pm) Monday to Friday

Term Time Only (28.75 hour per week)

In addition to the role performed within the Practitioner Role the duties required of the Senior Practitioner will include: -

Supporting the Manager in the day to day operation of the club with specific responsibility for ensuring that policies, procedures and processes in place are followed to ensure the health & wellbeing of the children in our care.

Monitoring dietary & allergy information for each child

Ensuring that the storage and administration of medicines is carried out in accordance with the policies

Regular review of emergency contact cards (where applicable) to ensure that all new starts & leavers are monitored and information updated

Assist in gathering information to be included in monthly club newsletters and to ensure that printing deadlines are met

Deputise in the absence of the Manager

Direct staff to ensure that they carry out their role fully and responsibly

Assist in weekly administration with regard to, petty cash, etc.

Liaise, where necessary, with staff from other clubs to ensure that levels of service are maintained.

Provide a link between breakfast & afterschool care (where applicable) to ensure that lines of communication between both services are open ensuring that parents, carers and services users have the same opportunities irrespective of which service is used

A sound understanding of PPC Policies and Procedures with specific knowledge of those relating to the Health & Wellbeing indicators

Knowledge of the Care Inspectorate Standards and Grading System and how they relate specifically to the Out of School Care environment.

Excellent communications skills, confidence and professionalism in dealing with all aspects of customer service.

Experience of both SHANARRI & GIRFEC and how these will continue to be incorporated into Children's Care Plans within the service

Effective time management, organisation and admin skills to help support the day to day operation of the service

An ability to work on your own initiative and make a contribution towards improvements to the systems, procedures and policies within the service

A knowledge of the SSSC Codes of Practice and your responsibilities as a SSSC registered worker

The ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with issues arising within the service to ensure that the privacy & dignity of service users, parents and staff members is respected

Applicants will either hold or be committed to work towards an SVQ 3 in either Playwork, Early Years Care & Education or Child Care & Education or an equivalent qualification at SCQF Levels 6/7

A willingness to undertake or progress their own Personal Development with attendance at regular training events and opportunities such as First Aid, Food Hygiene, Infection Control, Behaviour Management and any other training identified as being relevant to the post and own learning & development
