Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnered with Caledonian Sleeper to appoint a permanent Purchase to Pay Manager.

 

Caledonian Sleeper has been in operation since 1873. In June 2023, the service was taken into public ownership and is now being run by Caledonian Sleeper Limited, a subsidiary of Scottish Rail Holdings, an arm’s length company owned and controlled by the Scottish Government. The Caledonian Sleeper is the longest passenger train in the UK.

 

The newly created role of Purchase to Pay Manager provides an exciting opportunity for a talented finance professional with the desire to join an iconic and unique organisation embarking on the next chapter in its journey.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution and performance of the full P2P process. This will require the management and a close working relationship with members of the P2P team, as well as the creation and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting.

Initially, a key part of the role will be to work with the Business Transition programme team and be responsible for the transition of the P2P function from their current provider.


Key Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the P2P function, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and controls as well as external regulations
  • Advise and assist in the creation of a fit-for-purpose P2P process for CSL
  • Managing and developing a small P2P team ensuring P2P objectives and strategies align with overall business vision / goals
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the P2P function, identifying and implementing best practices, process enhancements, and system solutions
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the P2P function, using KPIs, dashboards, and benchmarks
  • Provide support and leadership to the P2P team by way of coaching, training and feedback
  • Manage deadlines effectively, prioritising workload of self and team, delegating as and when appropriate
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as suppliers, customers, auditors, and other finance functions

Experience:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous experience in a P2P role
  • Previous exposure to managing a team
  • Previous experience in system implementation
