University of the West of Scotland
About The University
Following the successful merger between University of Paisley and Bell College the next stage in our development sees us renamed, from November 30th 2007, as University of the West of Scotland.
With around 18000 students this merger will create Scotland's largest modern University and become the fourth largest in overall terms. Through this merger we will create a unique, strong, regional University with four campuses in Ayr, Dumfries, Hamilton and Paisley. The University will work with its stakeholders across the West of Scotland to deliver internationally informed Higher Education.
The Paisley Technical School was founded in 1897 to run vocational courses. It became the University of Paisley in 1992. It aims to be international, innovative and inclusive.
The University has strong links with industry and commerce and many of its courses are still vocational. Some degrees include a year working in industry, commerce or with a private company.
It runs over 100 modular degree courses, through 7 Schools
