About The University:
UHI Millennium Institute was created so that higher education could be available locally throughout the Highlands and Islands.
It is based on a partnership of colleges and research institutes. The academic partners are
- Highland Theological Institute
- Lochaber College (Associate)
- Ness Foundation (Associate)
- North Atlantic Fisheries College
- Scottish Association for Marine Science
There are over 50 local learning centres, from Arran to Wick, so you never have to travel too far. Centres are linked by modern technology, so wherever you study, teaching and support are the same.
UHI runs Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND) and degree courses. The Open University validates the degrees.
There are more than 30 degree courses, 13 postgraduate courses and over 100 national awards, taught through 4 Faculties
- Arts, Humanities and Social Science
- Science and Technology
- Health
UHI has particular strengths in rural development and sustainability, marine and natural sciences, cultural studies, environmental research and mountain studies.
The UHI has some 5,960 students
