About The College:
Shetland College aims to run courses to suit the needs of the various islands that make up Shetland. It is an academic partner of the UHI Millennium Institute (UHI).

There are courses at various levels, including national Qualifications (NQ), Scottish Vocational Qualifications, Higher National Certificates and Diplomas and degrees.

Subject areas include

      • Business, Administration and Accounting
      • Child Care and Education

      • Computing

      • Construction

      • Cultural Studies

      • Environment and Heritage Studies

      • Health and Social Care

      • Hospitality

      • Textiles, Art and Design

There are degree courses in Business and Management, Child and Youth Studies, Contemporary Textiles, Cultural Studies, Environment and Heritage, History of the Scottish Highlands and Islands.

Applying to Shetland College
Because this College is a UHI partner, you apply through UCAS for courses at Higher National Certificate and above.

Support for learning
Guidance support is offered to all students while they are at College.
There is good access for disabled students and extra support for any student who needs it.

Child care
The Blydehaven Nursery, at Gressy Loan, cares for children aged 3 to 5.

Mature entrants
Mature students are welcome. Experience is taken into account, so you may not need formal qualifications.

Access courses
The College runs Access courses leading to higher education in Nursing and Social Work, at Robert Gordon University.

Part time study
There are some part time courses, as well as open learning courses for students who cannot attend the College.

Community courses
The College runs outreach courses in some local centres.
