About The University:
The Scottish Agricultural College (SAC) was founded at the start of the 20th century. It is Scotland's specialist higher education centre for courses in rural business and pursuits, land use and environmental protection and applied food, plant and animal sciences.
It has 3 centres, in Aberdeen, Ayr and Edinburgh. There are associated farms, horticultural units and other facilities near each campus.
It has over 1,000 full time students.
The College runs courses leading to SAC Certificates and Diplomas, Higher National Certificates (HNC), Higher National Diplomas (HND) and degrees. The Universities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow validate the degrees.

Support for learningEach student has an Adviser of Studies who helps with personal or academic problems. There is a high staff to student ratio so help is always on hand.
On-line packages complement classroom work in many courses.
Students with special needs such as visual or hearing impairment, mobility problems, medical conditions, mental health difficulties or dyslexia are welcome. Discuss your needs with the Admissions Tutor as early as possible.
Child care
The College does not have child care facilities, but may be able to help fund registered child care elsewhere.
Mature entrants
There is a flexible entry policy for mature entrants. SAC takes into account qualifications, work experience and motivation.
Access courses for adults
The College recognises Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) courses for adults – in particular Access to Science (Animal Studies) at Stow College, Glasgow.
Advanced entry
Students with
an HNC may be admitted to year 2 of a degree course
an HND may be admitted to year 3
You can take many courses in stages – an HNC, followed by an HND, then a degree, and finally an Honours degree, 1 year for each stage.
Part time study
Where possible, courses are flexible and you can study them part time or by distance learning, using web-based and electronic materials.
