About The College:
Sabhal Mor Ostaig teaches its courses in Gaelic. It is an academic partner of the UHI Millennium Institute (UHI).

It has 2 campuses on Skye and 1 on Islay.

There are courses in the following areas
      • Gaelic Access (An Cursa Inntrigidh)

      • Gaelic Intensive (An Cursa Comais)

      • Gaelic and Communication

      • Gaelic and Media

      • Gaelic and North Atlantic Studies

      • Gaelic Language and Culture

Its degree courses are the only ones in Scotland taught in Gaelic. Students can spend a semester in Canada (Nova Scotia) or Ireland.

There are
      • about 90 full time students

      • 600 taking short courses

      • 150 taking the distance learning course

      • students from all over the world

Because this College is a UHI partner, you apply through UCAS for courses at Higher National Certificate and above.

Support for learning
Studies Advisers help with study skills and there are software packages to help with reading and writing.
Special arrangements are made for disabled students. There is specialist equipment for students with dyslexia and visual impairments.

Child care
Care is provided for children from birth to school age, and after school and holiday care for children up to 12.

Mature entrants
Mature students are welcome. Most short course students are mature.

Access courses
There is an Access to Gaelic course, giving entry the UHI Gaelic degrees.

Part time study
There are some part time courses, a distance learning Access to Gaelic course and a range of short courses in Gaelic language and culture.

Community courses
The Learning Centre offers courses to the local community. Courses also run in other centres on Skye and on Islay.
