About The College:
Oatridge College provides specialist courses for those working, or wishing to work, in the Land Based Industries.

It has an attractive campus with a working farm and well-equipped facilities.

The college is currently undergoing an £8.3 million redevelopment.

Courses lead to Certificates of Competence, Certificates, Scottish Vocational Qualifications, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas.

They run in the following subject areas
      • Agriculture

      • Animal Care

      • Engineering

      • Environment and Conservation

      • Equine Studies

      • Farriery

      • Greenkeeping

      • Horticulture

      • Landscaping
Many full time courses include an overseas study tour. The College has links with institutions in France, Ireland, Italy and Holland

Support for learning
Staff can help all students with study skills, including note taking, report writing and research skills. There is assistance with communication and number work for those who need it.
Specialist help is available for students with specific learning difficulties.

Child care
The College does not have a nursery, but may be able to help fund registered child care elsewhere.

Mature entrants
The College welcomes mature students. You may not need the normal entry requirements.

Part time study
There are some part time courses, including leisure courses.
The College runs a wide range of short courses, many leading to industry recognised Certificates of Competence.

Did you know?
Oatridge College
      • is constructing a new £400,000 farriery centre and hosted the UK’s most prestigious farriery competition in September 2005

      • holds a ‘Family Day Out’ each year, when you can experience the activities of a working farm, including children’s activities, tractor rides, sheep shearing, sheep dog handling and horse shoeing demonstrations

      • receives European funding to run its short courses, as part of a project to upskill the landbased workforce, improve the competitiveness of the industry and so safeguard jobs

      • short courses include traditional skills such as drystane dyking and control of vermin such as moles, rabbits, rats and mice

      • is developing a new £3 million state-of-the-art teaching block which will include 14 new classrooms, a laboratory and IT Resource centre

      • plans to become the home of a national equestrian centre for Scotland, which will provide an international-standard arena with seating for 600, a covered warm-up arena, reception area, changing rooms and offices.
