About The College: ‘Learn for Life at Langside’. For over 50 years, Langside College has been running courses for the local community and beyond.
The College has 4 main campuses
- Langside – the main campus
- Rutherglen – for horticultural courses
- Carnwadric – in southwest Glasgow
It runs a wide range of courses, for qualifications including Highers, National Certificates, Scottish Vocational Qualifications and Higher National Certificates and Diplomas.
Courses are taught through 5 Faculties
- Arts, Languages and Social Sciences
- Education, Care and Sport
- Information Technology and Business Management
- Maths, Science and Technology
There are over 10,000 students, 1,500 from outside Europe.
The College has strong links with the Universities of Glasgow, Paisley, Strathclyde, and Glasgow Caledonian University. Some Higher National courses can give entry to year 2 of a degree.
Support for learning
The LITEhouse plays a major part in student support. It offers
- learning support – a learner action plan identifies support you may need
- lifeskills learning project – for help with basic number work, English or computing
- extended learning support for students with disabilities including physical, visual or hearing impairments and dyslexia
Child care
The Little Scholars Nursery, at the College, cares for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. There is also a Gaelic speaking nursery for the same age group.
Mature entrants
Mature entrants are welcome. You may not need the normal entry requirements.
Access courses
The College runs Access courses leading to higher education in Biosciences, Humanities (including Social Work) and Nursing.
Part time study
There are part time courses, day and evening.
You can study computing and IT at the Flexible Learning Centre. Book an appointment at a time to suit you.
Community courses
Courses for the local community are run in Toryglen.
