About The College:
John Wheatley College is a community college serving the east end of Glasgow and Greater Easterhouse.

The College opened in 1989. It now has 3 main campuses, at
      • Shettleston
    Moving to Haghill January 2007
      • Easterhouse

      • Queenslie
Most courses are at National Certificate level. There is good provision for students with learning difficulties.

The College has
      • Some 7,000 students

      • 140 full time and 120 part time staff
Support for learning
The College Advice Team provides support to all students.
There is extra support for students with disabilities, including physical and sensory impairments, mental health problems and learning difficulties, including dyslexia.

Child care
The Hullabaloo Childcare Centre at Easterhouse takes children from 2 to 5 years.

Mature entrants
Mature students are welcome – courses are equally attractive to adults and school leavers.

Access courses
The College runs an Access course in Humanities, leading to a degree in Primary Teaching or to a degree in Social Sciences. It also runs an Access course in Nursing.

Part time study
There are part time day and evening courses. The College’s Flexible Learning Units, at all 3 campuses, are open to all.

Community courses
The College runs outreach courses at 15 centres in Greater Easterhouse and at 5 centres in the east end of Glasgow. Details are on the website.

      • provides a Positive About Literacies (PAL) service (in partnership with Community Planning) which helps any adult improve their reading, writing, number work and basic computing skills

      • is near to a city council swimming pool, sports complex and leisure centre which many students can use at reduced charges

The Easterhouse Campus shares the site with Glasgow City Council's new Arts venue - The Bridge - opening Autumn 2006.
