About The College:
Jewel and Esk College runs courses which match the needs of industry. Its students have a high success rate in getting jobs and moving into higher education.
The College has 2 campuses
- at Milton Road on the east of Edinburgh
- at Eskbank, near Dalkeith, to the southeast of Edinburgh
It offers qualifications ranging from introductory level to Higher National Diploma.
Courses include
- Construction and Service Trades
- Early Years, Health and Social Care
- Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering
- Music, Multimedia and TV Production
- Bridging and Headstart Courses
The College has some 10,000 students.
Support for learning
Student Services Advisers offer support for individuals or small groups in study skills such as note taking and essay writing, as well as number work and communication.
The Learning Support Team assists students with disabilities including visual or hearing impairments, mobility problems or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia. A Personal Learning and Support Plan is drawn up, detailing your needs, including the use of specialist equipment.
Child care
The College does not have nursery facilities, but may be able to help fund registered child care elsewhere.
Mature entrants
The College welcomes mature students. You may not need formal qualifications.
Access courses
The College runs Access courses leading to higher education in Digital Media, Engineering, Nursing, and Humanities, Primary Teaching and Community Education.
Part time study
There are part time day and evening courses and a wide range of open learning courses.
Community courses
Classes run at 11 centres in Edinburgh, Mid and East Lothian. Details are on the website.
