About The College:
James Watt College provides one of the widest ranges of courses at all levels in Scotland. The College opened in 1907, named after the inventor, James Watt. The Finnart Campus was built in 1973. The College has developed since then.

It now has 4 campuses
      • Finnart and Waterfront in Greenock

      • North Ayrshire, in Kilwinning

      • Largs – the Scottish School of Sport, Exercise and Outdoor Studies
The College runs 200 full time courses, ranging from introductory and National Qualifications, to Higher National qualifications and degrees. It has links with several universities, including
      • Abertay Dundee

      • Glasgow Caledonian

      • Heriot-Watt

      • Napier

      • Northumbria

      • Paisley
Courses are taught through 5 Faculties

      • Education, Humanities and Creative Arts

      • Health, Care and Consumer Studies

There are 17,000 students
      • 4,000 full time

      • 50% from outside Inverclyde

      • 180 from overseas – the Far East, North Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the USA
Support for learning
Student Advisers provide advice and support.
The Extended Learning Support System offers additional help for students with disabilities.

Child care
Finnart and North Ayrshire campuses have nurseries for children aged 3 to 5.
There is a pilot nursery for under-3s in Greenock.

Mature entrants
Mature students are welcome. You may not need formal qualifications.

Access courses
There are Access courses leading to higher education in Arts and Humanities, Social Work and Nursing.

Part time study
The College runs an extensive range of part time day and evening, open learning and on-line courses.

Community courses
Community Learning Centres in Inverclyde, North Ayrshire and Argyll and Bute, run flexible courses for local people.
