Glasgow Caledonian University
About The University:
‘Where careers come first’ is Glasgow Caledonian University’s catch phrase – and most of its degrees are career orientated.

It is one of the largest universities in Scotland with
- over 14,000 students, 3,000 part time
- students from 70 countries
You could spend part of your undergraduate course abroad through
- the European scheme, Erasmus
- an exchange with a university in USA, Canada or Australia
Your chances of employment are good

Support for learning
The innovative learning opportunities include

If you have special needs, including dyslexia, the Disability Service arranges support so you can take a full part in university life – contact the Service early.
Child care
The Beechwood Nursery, on campus, takes 25 children of students, from 6 weeks to 5 years.
Mature entrants
For adults without the normal entry requirements, some courses offer alternative arrangements, including writing an essay or producing evidence of recent achievements. Contact the University for details.
Access courses for adults and pupils
- the University recognises Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) courses for adults
- the Summer School runs for 12 weeks, for both adults and pupils – pupils are invited, to brush up their basic skills or to top up their entry qualifications – adults can take a Return to Study Course or, if accepted for direct entry, an Induction Course to university
- the Greater Opportunities for Access and Learning with Schools (GOALS) encourages applications from schools which do not usually send many pupils to university – university staff visit these schools
Advanced entry
If you have a Higher National Certificate or Higher National Diploma you may get into a degree course at year 2 or 3. The University runs an induction course to help you settle in. The separate FE Supplement (to the prospectus) gives details.
Part time study
Glasgow Caledonian runs over 50 part time degree courses. It has 27% of all part time undergraduates in Scotland. To suit its students, many of these courses are in the evening as well as part time during the day.
