About The College:
Banff and Buchan College runs specialised courses for the fishing and offshore industries, as well as a wide range of other subjects.

The main centre is in Fraserburgh and the College also has centres in Huntly, Macduff and Peterhead. It runs outreach courses elsewhere (see below).

Courses can lead to qualifications including Highers, National Certificates, Scottish Vocational Qualifications, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas. They are organised through 6 divisions
      • Business

      • Computing

      • Engineering and Construction

      • Maritime

      • Service Industries

      • Social Studies and Creative Arts
Support for learning
There are workshops in study skills, essay writing and other topics.
Extra help is available for students with learning difficulties or physical disabilities.

Child care
Link-Up, about a mile from the main centre, cares for children aged 6 months to 5 years. Transport to the College is provided.

Mature entrants
Mature entrants are welcome. You may be accepted without the normal entry requirements.

Access courses
The College runs Access courses leading to higher education in Art and Design, Arts and Social Sciences, Computing, Construction and Surveying, Nursing and Technology.

Part time study
There are part time day and evening courses in vocational and leisure subjects.
You can study computing subjects by flexible learning in College.
If you need to study at home, or offshore, there are open learning courses, with tutor support. An increasing range of subjects is available by e-learning, using on-line materials.

Community courses
A variety of courses run in Huntly, Macduff and Peterhead.
Vocational and leisure courses are also run in Ellon, Turriff, Portsoy, Aberchirder, Cruden Bay, Fyvie, Mintlaw, Methlick, New Deer, New Pitsligo, Hatton, Keith, Gardenstown, and other communities.

Did you know?
Banff and Buchan College
      • has some engineering students sponsored by Shell UK Ltd

      • does research into safety at sea for fishermen and women, in association with the Universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde, the Fishermen’s Safety at Sea Working Group and the Corporation of Trinity House

      • does not teach Gaelic language, but passes requests for tuition to Sabhal Mor Ostaig.
