About The College:
Anniesland College was opened in 1964 to serve the community in the west of Glasgow.
The main building is in Hatfield Drive. There is an annexe at Balshagray and resource centres at Milton and Ruchill.
The College has strong community links and runs outreach courses in community centres. It also has strong links with industry, particularly in craft training for shipbuilding.
It runs nearly 180 courses, over 60 full time. There are 7 schools
- Communication, Languages and Media
- Hospitality, Leisure and Creative Arts
- Social and Community Studies
Courses lead to qualifications including Highers, National Certificates, Scottish Vocational Qualifications, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas.
The College specialises in English for Speakers of Other Languages. It has students from over 70 countries.
Support for learning
Course tutors advise on academic matters. Support for Learning staff help with study skills – essay writing, spelling, number work and more. The Multimedia Education, Training and Resource Centres (METROs) have software to help students in all areas of study.
Disabled students are welcome. The College has resources to help with physical or visual impairment, dyslexia and other learning difficulties, mental illness or emotional problems.
Child care
The Treasure Trove Nursery takes children from 6 weeks to 5 years.
Mature entrants
If you are over 21 and have appropriate experience, you may be accepted without the normal entry requirements.
Part time study
There are part time courses in College and in local community centres. The METROs offer flexible learning courses in computing, maths and communication.
