About The College:
On 1 August 2005 Fife College merged with Glenrothes College to form The Adam Smith College, Fife, creating one of the largest colleges in Scotland.

Adam Smith College has 5 main campuses in Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Leven, and local learning centres throughout Fife.

It runs courses leading to qualifications including National Qualifications, Higher National Certificates (HNC), Higher National Diplomas (HND), degrees, Scottish Vocational Qualifications and Professional Qualifications, in the following areas:

      • Creative Industries

      • Education and Care Studies

      • Sport and Tourism

      • Business, Management and Computing

      • Engineering, Construction and Science

The College has around 23,000 students, and will seek to be a central focus for local communities, as well as playing an important role in supporting and shaping the local labour market.

Support for learning
There is Learner Support for all students, including workshops in study skills, report writing and exam skills.
The Learner Development Centre at the Glenrothes campus supports students with disabilities or special learning needs, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, arthritis, epilepsy, visual or hearing impairments and dyslexia.

Child care
The St. Brycedale campus has a Nursery which cares for children aged 2 to 5.
The College may be able to help fund registered child care for students at the other centres elsewhere.

Mature entrants
Mature students are welcome. You may not need the normal entry requirements.

Access courses
There are Access courses in community education, construction, primary education, science, social work and social sciences, all leading to higher education.

Part time study
There are part time day and evening courses, as well as open and distance learning and on-line courses.

Community Courses
There are courses in local learning centres throughout Fife.

      • the new St Brycedale Campus was opened in April 2005 by Scotland's First Minister
      • Ewan McGregor, Dougray Scott and Sharon Small are former students of Fife College
      • Ian Rankin, who comes from Cardenden, is awarding scholarships for students on full time Communication or Journalism courses and, previously, Glenrothes College
      • held an annual exhibition of students’ work in animation, art, design, multimedia, sound and video
      • the College was chosen to host heats for the Scot Hot 2005 cookery competition, because of the first class kitchen facilities
