Support for Learning
Every student has their own personal Adviser of Studies who acts as a first port of call for academic and personal advice and guidance. The University supports students with special requirements, and has a Disability Adviser on hand to help you with any questions or support needs that you may have. The Academic Learning and Study Unit (ALSU) also provides assistance to students with learning issues.

Child care
The campus-based Rocking Horse Nursery provides child-care for pre-school age children of students and staff.

Access Courses – for adults and pupils
There are Access courses which give entry to most of the degrees at the University

      • Access to Degree Studies, for adults, offers classes on-campus during the day and evening, making it possible to work full-time or fit in family commitments while studying. It also runs a video-conference network throughout the north of Scotland.
      • Summer School for Access runs between June-August at the University, for both school pupils and adults.
      • aim4uni is for pupils in S4, 5 and 6 who attend schools with traditionally low rates of progression to higher education. It considers other ways to get into a degree course if exam results are disappointing, and helps pupils transfer to university. At present it works with eight schools in northeast Scotland.

Advanced Entry
If you have a Higher National Certificate or Higher National Diploma from a further education college, you may be able to enter degree courses at year 2 or 3. If you have good A Level or Advanced Higher grades in the subject area that you apply for, it is possible, in some cases, to complete an Honours degree in three years.

Bursaries
Each year the university awards entrance bursaries for undergraduate study. Most bursaries are worth £1000 per year for each year of study, so if successful you will have an additional £3000 to £5000 – depending on the length of your course – to support you. Entrance bursaries are also available in the areas of Music and Sport.
